Historical vestiges

Histria fortress- situated at 62 km far from Constanta, is the oldest greek settlement on romanian territory. Was foundated in year 657 b.c., by greek colonists. Here we can visit Zeus temple.

Tomis fortress- foundated in VI century, b.c., by greek colonists from Milet. In our days still can be seen valuable vestiges: ceramic ancient pots, ” Butchers Tower”, roman wall.

Callatis fortress, from Mangalia- vestiges with an enormous scientific and touristic interest. Here is conserved the oldest latin document from south-west Europe.

Other historical vestiges: Sacidava fortress, Byzantine fortress from Ostrov.

Religious edifices

Constanta mosque- foundated in 1910, in an Moorish style. Is a copy of Konia mosque. It offers a superb panorama over the city.

Other edifices: Orthodox Cathedral from Constanta, Elena Church from Constanta, Mangalia mosque, Dervent Monastery from Ostrov, Techirghiol Monastery.

Monuments and statues

“Tropaeum Traiani” monument from Adamclisi- situated at 64 km far from Constanta, is an unique edifice by its dimensions and its ornamental richness.

Ovidiu’s statue, Constanta- situated in the ancient area of the city, beside Tomis port.

Mihai Eminescu’s statue- settled on Constanta cliff.

Museums

Constanta museum of archaeology and national history- one of the richly museum from the country, presents collections of greek, byzantine, mediaeval archaeology.

Constanta Art Museum- contains valuable paint work, sculpture and graphic, of our famous artists: Nicolae Grigorescu, Theodor Aman, Ion Andreescu, Theodor Pallady, Corneliu Baba
